 How to get here

The National Museum Soares dos Reis is located in the downtown area, near Hospital Geral de Santo António and Palácio de Cristal. We encourage you to use the public transportation.

By Train
If you use the train to get to Campanhã train station, from there you can take a bus (STCP - 207) in the terminal next to the train and will stop at Jardim do Carregal.
Finding yourself in Campanhã station, you may choose to transfer and come to the São Bento train station. From São Bento you will arrive in 20 minutes by walking to the Museum, up to the Rua dos Clérigos, Rua das Carmelitas, Praça Gomes Teixeira, Largo Prof. Abel Salazar, Jardim do Carregal and Rua D. Manuel II. If you prefer you can take tram or one of the buses at Avenida dos Aliados.

By Bus
Depending on your location on the city there are several STCP lines that stop near the Museum (200, 207, 302 300.601, 602, 507, 501, 201).
The organising committee, together with the Porto Social Foundation, has arranged direct free transportation between the IBMC (first venue announced) and the Museum. The bus will be doing the following trips:
From IBMC to the Museum - departure at 9:15 am
From the Museum to the IBMC - departure at 7:15 pm
A member of the organising committee will be at the sites and times of departure.

By car
It is easy to reach by car from anywhere in the city, however there are few free parking lots near the Museum.
Once you get in Praça Mouzinho de Albuquerque (Rotunda da Boavista - big roundabout) you should follow by Rua Júlio Dinis until you reach Rua D. Manuel II.
If you get to Avenida dos Aliados you should follow in the direction to Praça Filipa de Lencastre, go up Rua de Ceuta, take Rua José Falcão, Praça Guilherme Gomes Fernandes, Praça Gomes Teixeira (also known as Praça dos Leões), Largo Professor Abel Salazar, Rua Clemente Menéres and finally Rua D. Manuel II, or in alternative use the Almadas Tunnel which begins at Praça Filipa de Lencastre and ends at Rua D. Manuel II.

 Places to visit in Porto

Fundação de Serralves (Museum)
Art foundation that holds the Serralves Museum (modern art museum) surrounded by its beautiful gardens.

Museu Nacional de Soares dos Reis (Museum)
This museum was the first public art museum in Portugal. It holds classic, fine arts and decorative pieces.

Casa da música (Concert hall)
Inaugurated in 2005 and known for its architectural style, it quickly became an icon in the city.

Torre dos Clérigos (Place of interest)
The town's ex libris. After taking the 240-step stairs, enjoy the panorama of Porto and Douro

Estação de São Bento (Train station)
Built on what used to be a convent, this active train station is now covered in 20.000 "azulejos" depicting the evolution of transports and several aspects of Portuguese life.

Ribeira (Place of interest)
The ideal place to have a "fino" by the river. Cross the river by the D. Luís I bridge, also an iconic mark of the city and designed by an associate of Eiffel's architectural firm, and you are now in Vila Nova de Gaia. Here, you will find the "caves" which hold the precious Port wine and offer wine tastings.

Palácio da Bolsa (Place of interest)
With a neoclassical style, it is one of the most visited monuments in Porto. Don't forget to visit inside the famous Salão Árabe.

Catedral da Sé (Religious place of interest)
From Romanesque to Gothic architectural styles, this cathedral is one of Porto's religious icons.

Bolhão (Market)
The town's most iconic market place, not only by its neoclassical architecture but also by its emblematic vendors.

Jardins do Palácio de Cristal (Garden)
A garden with many small belvederes and a view to the Douro River. What used to be the Palácio de Cristal, is now the Pavilhão Rosa Mota, a sports and cultural centre.

Darwin Exhibition
An homage to the life and Work of Charles Darwin inserted in the beautiful Andresen house and the Botanical Garden.
